Lakes, Trails, Parks, the Mississippi River

Lakes, Trails, Parks, the Mississippi River

If you like the outdoors you will love Minneapolis. Visit www.minneapolisparks.org for hundreds of ideas about what to do in your spare time at the convention. Unwind, relax and make sure to enjoy the natural beauty of Minneapolis.

Roam the nation’s oldest public wildflower garden, Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden. From the Stone Arch Bridge, view the only waterfall on the Mississippi, the remains of the largest water powered facility in the world, the West Side Milling District, and hike across the River on the oldest mainline railroad bridge in the Northwest. Travel on the Mississippi Queen, a paddleboat tour of the upper River.

Or attend an outdoor music concert at Lake Harriet Bandshell (pictured). Or golf at Theodore Wirth Golf Course, a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program golf course (one of 7 golf courses within the City).

Entertainment

There is more professional theater per capita than in any other city in North America including several well regarded theaters and troupes with interests in exploring politics, our relationship to the earth, multicultural, feminist and queer theories, etc. Note Heart Of the Beast Theater, Bedlam Theater, Patrick's Cabaret, and other places with a potentially Green friendly political bent.

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

Cultural Activities and outdoor Summer Festivals change daily and weekly. What to do abounds.
